Jodha Akbar is a sixteenth-century love story about a political marriage of convenience between a Mughal emperor, Akbar and a Rajput princess, Jodha. This show is being aired on Zee TV on week-nights produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar. After having secured the Hindu Kush, his empire extends from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Narmada River. Through a shrewd blend of diplomacy, intimidation and brute force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs. This allegiance was not universal. Later, he became the emperor of whole India. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodha, a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey – the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar's biggest challenge now lies in winning the love of Jodha – a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice. Now jodha and Akbar both think that they can never be in love and hate each other immensely but with the time they come to know that they have a very deep love for each other.

Rajat Tokas looks a bit immature in this extremely serious role of Akbar but his charm more than compensates this fact. You all must be remembering his show Prithviraj Chauhan in which his chemistry with the female lead of the show broke all records. I can notice the same magic in this show as well, where Rajat with Paridhi Sharma opens up a new chapter of an unrealised love ripening amidst the two.

Also there is a need to notice the continuous smirks by Rajat as Akbar everytime Jodha talks anything ridiculous or without any proof much like Arnav Singh Raizada of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya naam Doon (Season 1).
