The decision came after Kings XI Punjab announced the names of players they would retainfor IPL 6, and the list had the nameof Gilchrist.During last year's IPL, Gilchrist hadhinted that he might not feature in season 6 of the IPL. The hints cameafter the left-handed batsman did not have a great tournament in the previous edition of IPL. Gilchrist did not play most of the matches due to hamstring injury, and did not perform well in the matches that he Played.Gilchrist, who recently turned 41 last month, has had issues with hisfitness since past one year and thatwas the prime reason why he was unsure of Playing in IPL 6. Gilchrist said that he had no plans of playing in the sixth edition of this cash-rich tournament. He gave a thought to it only after the selectors and owners of Kings XI Punjab had a meeting and decided to include the former Australian cricketer's name in the list of retained players for the next IPL.IPL 6 will commence from the 3rd of April 2013 and the final match will be played on 26th of May 2013.
