Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon – Characters Introduction1. Arnav Singh Raizada (Malik)
The character is played by Barun Sobti. Arnav is an atheist. A rude, blunt guy who lost his mother and father when he was 14 years of age. He Deals with all his relationships as if he’s into a business deal. A good at heart man whose world revolves around his Anjali Di. He can join a havan, have ‘prasad’ and do anything and everything for his sister’s happiness. He do not believes in marriage initially. His ideas about a perfect life is limited to his business deals and caring about his sister. He says Its us who build our own destiny and not God. But love changed him entirely to an extremely adorable lover boy who can die for his love.
2. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada
The character is played by Sanay Irani. Khushi is an ideal girl. For her its only her family that holds importance. She can do anything to cure her family from any kind of distress. Her life revolves around Amma, Babuji, Buaji, jiji and last but not the least Devi Maiyya. She is a cheerful girl who spreads happiness around herself. Feelings and Emotions is the real treasure for her and not Money, Gold or Silver. Every father would ask for a daughter like her. She is now the wife of Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada whom she love like anything. She even fought with goons to save her husband, such loving wife.

3. Anjali Shyam Jha
The character is played by Daljeet Kaur Bhanot. Anjali is a loving sister for whom her brother is extremely important. Infact her life has two pillars – Her husband and her brother Arnav. She is an extremely caring wife and sister. She cares about the entire world, feels sad for every individual’s sadness, tries to keep everything and everyone in place. She is a big festivals and fasts freak. She fasts a lot for her husband’s and brother’s long life and success. “If you give respect, you’ll gain respect” – This sentence works completely for her. An extra sweet and adorable creature on this earth.
4. Shyam Manohar Jha
The character is played by Abhaas Mehta. Shyam is a lawyer by profession. He is the very own husband of Anjali Di, who is loved by everybody in the Raizada family as he showcased his character in front of them very neatly and very positively. But the truth is even dirtier than expected. Shyam married anjali for her wealth, for his sophisticated survival in this world. He married anjali out of his greed and selfishness and not out of love. And this becomes evident when he trapps Khushi’s family in his so called good character, calling himself unmarried, tries to marry khushi. And now there’s a SNAKE in Arnav-Khushi ‘s life seeking his so-called revenge everytime.
In short, every show has a negative character and here Shyam is the one.

The character is played by Akshay Dogra. Akash is Arnav’s maternal brother but totally opposite in nature. He is a simple guy who loves his family very much. Also akash is a mamma’s boy and ever ready to do anything for his family. But fortunately/unfortunately he fall in love with a girl who is far below his family status. But as you know, Love creates magic on people and akash goes crazy about his love and wanted to marry her at all costs. Wow! And Akash after marriage, like a typical Indian male, is stucked between his wife and mother.
6. Payal Singh Raizada
This character is played by Deepali Pansare. Payal is a completely dedicated family woman. Before marriage she lived for her Amma, Babuji, Buaji and Little sis Khushi and now after marriage, her life is all for her husband and in laws. A little over-innocent and almost all the times even she is stucked between her husband and mother-in-law. Poor cow!

This character is played by Abha Parmar. Madhumati is Khushi and Payal’s Buaji. She is a good at heart woman and cares for her family a lot. You will Roll On The Floor and Laugh at each dialogue of Buaji. And even her Pet words “Haaye Re NandKisore” and how she calls khushi as “Sankaa devi” will give you a sense of an ownness.

This character is played by Utkarsha Naik. Manorama is Arnav’s Maami and Akash’s Mom. Her Hinglish will make you Laugh your heart out. And even her pet word “Hello Hi, Bye Bye” is like Wow, what a creativity in writing the script. She herself belonged to a middle class family once from where she got married into this rich Raizada Mansion But she taunts, hates all middle class creatures. But on other side, she loves everyone in her family. First time I am seeing a maami loving her Bhaanja-Bhaanji like her own kids. This is the only reason why I love this character.
10. Shashi Gupta
This character is played by Sanjay Batra. He is Khushi and Payal’s Father or we may call him “Babuji”, A very caring personality by heart. He even has a good sense of right or wrong as he spotted Shyam’s true face, spied on him but He couldn’t expose his evil plans and got paralysed due to shyam’s evil deeds. Still on a wheel chair, He is Doing a fabulous acting on screen.
11. Garima Gupta
This character is played by Pyumori Mehta. Garima is Khushi and Payal’s mother or simply Amma. She is a caring mother, loving wife and responsible and sensitive person like all other women. A new aspect of this character came forward as an escapist, running away from her past so that it donot spoil her Khushi’s marriage. Lets see, How long you run.

12. Nand Kishore aka NK
This character is played by Karan goddwani. NK is Manorama Mami’s sister’s son. He is an extremely Jolly natured and keep[s everyone happy. His “Tuti Futi Hindi” makes us laugh all the way. But He is a great guy with 100% moral character and ability to judge who is right and who is wrong. He is an extremely helpful and caring man.
13. Manohar Raizada
This character is played by Rajesh Jais. Manohar is Manorama’s Husband, Akash’s Dad and Arnav’s Maternal Uncle. He too loves all the three kids alike. He’s seen rarely in the Raizada Mansion. He do not have much scope to prove himself here but the character is a legitimate, honest, responsible and Wife-haunted person.
14. Subhadra Malik
This character is played by Swati Chitnis. Dadi returned back home after a long duration. She went to an Ashram after the mishap in their life when Arnav’s Mom and Dad committed suicide. Dadi is a Grey Shade character who Considers Lower caste as untouchable. she considers all others wrong except herself.(I haven’t mentioned temporary characters and those who left :)
